This Women’s History Month, Indiaspora is celebrating women who are working for community impact across U.S. with a curated virtual conversation on Mar. 12.

Titled “Cornerstones of Change: Celebrating Women Driving Community Impact,” the event will spotlight local action by women leaders who act as engines of lasting change.

The meet will feature social leader Kavita Mehra, the executive director of Sakhi, an NYC-based organization dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic and gender-based violence. Mehra has led the organization since 2017.

Anna Asava, the co-founder of HungerMitao, will also feature in the conversation. HungerMitao is a volunteer-driven grassroots movement focused on raising awareness about hunger in the U.S., co-founded by the husband-wife duo Raj Asava and Aradhana (Anna) Asava. They founded HungerMitao in 2017 with the goal of galvanizing the Indian American community to help fight food insecurity through local food banks.

Another major name on the list of speakers is Shaila Kapoor, the founder and executive director of Boys Who Write. Boys Who Write is a nonprofit that builds essential communication skills in boys in order to strengthen their emotional well-being, build meaningful relationships, and thrive and lead within their communities.

Ami Shah, the director of Give an Hour, will also share her experience as a woman leader striving for social change. Shah has been leading Give an Hour since 2025. The organization envisions a society in which every individual is equipped with the knowledge, resources, and opportunities to take charge of their mental health journey.

Talking about the event, Indiaspora noted: “Too often, impact is measured at scale, yet the most transformative shifts begin locally, through women who build, advocate, mentor, and lead where they stand. We have gathered women leaders across sectors to reflect on community-driven impact and the future of women’s leadership.”

The virtual conversation will be organized from 7:30-8:30 p.m. ET / 4:30-5:30 p.m. PT via Zoom.
